$People were leaving candles and flowers around the monument at Washington Square Park. We weren\'t allowed to leave to go to Union Square for several days. Well, we could leave, but we wouldn\'t have been allowed back below 14th Street. The atmosphere at Washington Square Park was more somber and mourning the loss of life, the atmosphere at Union Square was more political and activist.$
